Flowers have been used to convey beauty and wealth through art history, only to be taken as trite and frivolous by contemporary standards of art. Regardless, florals suggest softness and intangible attractions to most people. My drawings uncomfortably yet confidently approach beauty, using classic imagery and media displayed through heavy and barely perceptible layers. Gentle washes insist on both ambiguity and pose, commenting on the timelessly tenuous role of beauty in art.
